Colombian singer Shakira will play the goddess Kaali in an Indian film called Kaali- The Warrior Goddess, reports Mumbai Mirror.. The film will be produced by Karan Arora, CEO of High Ground Entertainment Ltd.
Said Arora, “Kaali- The Warrior Goddess will be a 3D motion film shot on CG. It will be a full-length, two-hour Hindi film to be shot in London, or then in a city in Eastern Europe.”
Confirming Shakira’s presence in the project, Arora told Mumbai Mirror, “Shakira is on board. She has agreed in principle. She has said yes when my co-producer met her. But she is yet to sign on the dotted line. The money is being worked out quickly,” he added.
Why Shakira, we asked? Why shouldn’t an Indian actress play Kaali? Explained Arora, “We wanted someone dusky and Shakira is dusky. Besides, we wanted an international star.”
Arora is also part of an Indo-UK project called Picture Thoughts Production, which is making Bhindi Baazaar, a Hindi thriller directed by Ankush Bhatt.
Shakira is a Colombian singer and songwriter who have won two Grammy awards. Shakira became famous with her single and music video Whenerever, Wherever (2001). Apart from performing at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, her song Waka Waka was the official song of the event.
