Athletes and officials can choose from six different cusines- American, Asian, African, Oceanian, Indian and Continental. The menu has 120 items that will be changed in a cycle of six days.
Shera will have the lion's share!
Most of the raw items like mutton, chicken and fish will be sourced from India. Lamb, bacon and salmon have been flown in from outside the country.

Everybody is happy with the quality of food being served.The general team manager of the Wales team, Ron Davies said that the foodwas excellent," The dinning area is similar to the Melbourne Games. The food is excellent. We are enjoying our stay. The facilities are really of international standards."
Healthy food for the athletes
Fruits like kiwis, peaches, apricots, and apples have been flown in. Keeping in mind the foreign palate, products like Peanut butter and Maple syrup have been imported.
Quality will not be compromised
Rick Aylett, Director of Delaware North- the firm catering to the Commonwealth Games says that that all requirements of food hygiene are being observed,"We have food safety teams to check the quality and hygiene. The food samples are being set to labs so that we can meet international standards," Aylett said.
The English chef is impressed!
The Commonwealth Games village in general has come in for praise from England's Chef de mission Craig Hunter. He feels that the CWG village in New Delhi is better than the Beijing Olympics village.

Hunter added by saying,"Every Games Village has progressed and this one sets a new standard."

There is also a international centre which has a general store, a saloon, an ice-cream parlour, and other facilities.
