Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X

OK, no introductions needed here. Mitsubishi has been gearing up to launch the tenth-generation of the Lancer, the iconic Evolution X, in India for quite some time now. While the proposed July launch has not materialised, sources say the Evo X is set for a November debut. The Lancer Evolution X gets a newly designed 4B11T 2.0-litre turbocharged, all-aluminium inline-4 petrol engine that churns out 294bhp of power and produces 366Nm of maximum torque. This engine has a double overhead camshaft and redlines at 7800rpm.


Nissan Micra Sedan

After the success of the Micra, Nissan looks to consolidate its position in the Indian market, coming up with the launch of the Nissan Micra Sedan, the same concept as the Indica/Indigo, Swift/Dzire and the Polo/Vento combinations. The Micra Sedan will be powered by the same 1.5-litre dCi engine that drives the Renault Logan, producing 65bhp and a torque of 160Nm@2000rpm


Nissan X-Trail

The latest refinements to X-TRAIL focus on the exterior, interior and the addition of a new "20GT" Clean Diesel 6-speed automatic transmission model. On the exterior, the front grille, front bumper and headlights have been redesigned to give an even bolder and sportier front-end look. Also, the combination taillights have been changed to LED.

Toyota Etios

Estimated price: Rs 4.5-7 lakh

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. showcased the Etios which turned out to be a head-turner at the Delhi Auto Expo this year. More than 2000 engineers in India and Japan have worked in close collaboration for four years to ensure the perfect blend of local design sensibilities and unmatched global quality standards are integrated into the Etios. The sedan version, which will be the first to be launched in the country, will offer a 1.5-litre DOHC petrol engine, and the hatch, which will be launched in 2011, will offer a 1.2-litre DOHC petrol engine and will come with lower excise duties. Both, the models, the sedan and the hatch, will sport new engines which have been specially designed for Indian conditions, where high mileage was an important factor in the designing of the engine.


Chevrolet Beat LPG

GM India has been one of the first automakers who have taken the green initiative in India. Chevrolet had launched the Optra CNG, the then alternative fuel variant of the Spark. Recently, they launched the Chevrolet Aveo CNG. And now, the American auto giant plans to launch the LPG variant of the Beat in India by the end of 2010. The Beat LPG is currently in the final testing stage in the Indian conditions.

Maruti Suzuki Kizashi

Estimated price: Rs 18 lakh

In the pipeline for a very long time, Maruti Suzuki will finally launch the Kizashi in November. Showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010, the Kizashi features a 2.4-litre petrol engine powering the wheels through a six-speed manual and CVT.

Chevrolet Spark Electric

Estimated price: Rs 3.5-5 lakh

GM India is ready to make public the electric version of its entry level small car, the Chevrolet Spark. The Spark will feature two electric versions, one with a conventional lead acid battery and another with more expensive lithium ion batteries. The electric motor has been developed by GM India in association with the Indian electric car pioneer, Reva Limited.

Nissan Murano

Estimated price: Rs 35-40 lakh

The name 'Murano' originates from the region of Venice, Italy which is known for hand blown glass production. The Murano was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2003 and even named the best premium mid-size SUV by AutoPacific. The Murano, when launched, will be one of the most unique crossover designs ever sold in India. The Murano has a powerful 3.5litre V6 engine that produces a potent 245bhp. The car is a front wheel drive (FWD) vehicle and is available with all wheel drive as an option. The Murano is the largest vehicle to have a CVT (Continuously variable transmission).
