Salman-Katrina: Found and Lost?

"Salman Khan is a senior actor and I have learnt a lot from him during the making of the films. He is very focused and dedicated," says Katrina about Salman.



Given the string of women he's dated in the past, his seven-year affair with Katrina had actually come as a surprise for those close to Salman.



Rumour mills had always run double-time when it came to Salman and Katrina's relationship, be it marriage plans, break-ups, or other controversies.



Salman picked a fight with Shahrukh Khan during Katrina Kaif's birthday bash, creating a humongous tiff between both the stars, leaving Katrina visibly upset.



Gossip hawks have also reported that Katrina is enjoying the company of Ranbir Kapoor "immensely".



Salman too seems to have moved on and has found new love in his 'Veer' co-star, Zarine Khan.




But have they really broken up? Or is it another stray rumour? Only time will tell... Till then, it is "Maine Pyaar Kiya" and not "Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?"

Salman Khan: I'm really, really sorry

Mumbai: Actor Salman Khan has apologised for his remarks on the 26/11 attack and insists that they were "twisted" and he did not mean to "hurt anybody's sentiments". "The interview has been twisted. I saw it myself, the way it is coming across on TV, it is sounding insensitive. I was just saying life is equal for both rich and poor, some attacks get more media coverage and some don't. Why is that? Every human life is important," Salman, 44, told Aaj Tak news channel.



"Any attack or terrorist attack in the world is unpardonable. A terrorist has no nationality, no religion and no guts. I have complete faith in our intelligence agencies. I've always had faith in our police and armed forces. "I did not want to hurt anybody's sentiments and if I have hurt anybody's sentiments then I am really, really sorry," he added.

Earlier, Bollywood actor Salman Khan has triggered a controversy by claiming that "too much hype" was created around the 26/11 attack as "elite people were targetted" and that the Pakistani government was not behind it.

In an interview to a Pakistani channel, Salman said: "Too much hype has been created around the 26/11 attacks because elite people were targetted. Attacks have happened in trains and small towns too, but no one talked about it so much."

"Everybody took this up because the Taj and Oberoi hotels were involved. The attacks happened because our security failed," he added.

"Everybody knows that the Pakistani government was not behind it and it was a terrorist attack. Our security had failed. We have had lot of attacks earlier, and all of them were not from Pakistan. They were from within also."

His comments have drawn strong reactions. Public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam told a news channel: "Salman's comments are illogical and an actor shouldn't have commented on terror attacks in this manner."



I'll record all my interviews in future: Salman

After triggering an uproar with his comments on the 26/11 attacks, Bollywood actor Salman Khan has decided to record all his interviews in future to avoid controversies.

He wrote on microblogging site Twitter: "Every human life has equal value and any act of terror, anywhere in the world is unpardonable. Be it 9/11 or 26/11."

"Next time mein apnne sub interview khud bhi record karoonga, kya bolte ho? Takeh yeh sub controversies nahi ho (from now on I will record all my interviews so that such controversies don't happen)," he added.

Salman said in an interview to a Pakistani channel that too much hype has been created around 26/11 "because elite people were involved".




Salman Khan must apologise: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday demanded an apology from Bollywood actor Salman Khan for his "unwarranted comments" on the 26/11 attacks to a Pakistani TV channel where he said that the Pakistani government is not to be blamed for it and the terror attack gained attention "only because the elite were targeted".

"We strongly condemn Salman Khan's unwarranted and irresponsible comments and that too to a Pakistani channel. How can he say only the elite were targeted? Is he not aware of the common people killed at the railway station and also the security forces? Moreover he has no right to give the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) and the Pakistani government a clean chit... He should immediately apologise," BJP spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain told IANS.





Salman Khan in an interview to Pakistan's Express TV said the Pakistani government is not to be blamed and that it was a security failure on India's part.

"Salman's comment at this point when all the evidence is pointing a finger at the ISI and Pakistan, is totally uncalled for. This will weaken India's case and strengthen Pakistan's. He is an Indian celebrity and he has disappointed many Indian fans. If there was POTA today he would be behind bars," Hussain said.

"Salman should concentrate on films and not make such coments," Hussain added.



The Nov 26-29, 2008 attack left 166 people dead as 10 terrorists who sailed in from Karachi let loose coordinated shooting and bombing attacks largely across south Mumbai.

Eight of the attacks occurred in south Mumbai at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Oberoi Trident, the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital, the Orthodox Jewish-owned Nariman House, the Metro Cinema and a lane behind the Times of India building and St. Xavier's College. There was also an explosion at Mazagaon, in Mumbai's port area, and in a taxi at Vile Parle.

Salim Khan: Salman is not articulate but should apologise

Mumbai: Salman Khan's father Salim Khan has said that his superstar son "should not" have made the remarks on the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and should apologise. Salim also said his son is not "articulate and political" and it could have been a "wrong choice of words".

"Whatever I've heard, he should not have said that. It is wrong... He is not a very articulate person or a political person. It could have been the wrong choice of words," Salim, 74, told Aaj Tak news channel.

"He should (come forward in front of the media) and apologise and he will... He will definitely say sorry and this (repeated telecast of his comments) should be stopped immediately... I'd like to express that we should not spread the (wrong) word and add fuel to fire." "He should come forward and apologise if he has hurt anyone or their sentiments or the words he used," Salim added.

Review: 'Dabangg'

'Dabangg' is rustic, has loads of action, harps on the age-old mother-son and varied relationships [half-brother, step-father], eventually turns into a vendetta fare, has a number of songs placed smartly in the narrative [including an item number]... but the packaging is slick and polished. Sure, it's old wine, but packed in a brand new bottle, with a new brand ambassador [Salman Khan] endorsing this masalathon.

Most importantly, it has Salman like never before. Breathing fire and venom, Chulbul Pandey aka Robin Hood Pandey taps Salman's star power like no film has and the result is sheer magic. In fact, 'Dabangg' stands on three pillars - Salman's star power, smashing stunts and super music.

Final word? Salman fans, rejoice! You walk in 'Dabangg' with 100% expectations and you exit with 200% gratification. Entertainment guaranteed. This film will create a pandemonium of sorts, a mass hysteria, crushing old records and setting new benchmarks at the box-office.



'Dabangg' has nothing ground-breaking to offer as far as its plot is concerned. We've visited similar stories in the past, but what makes 'Dabangg' shine, and shine brightly, is Salman's star power, which camouflages the aberrations wonderfully. The darling of the masses has been cast in a role that his fans love to see him in, which explains why this film works from start to end.

'Dabangg' is special for two more reasons: S. Vijayan's stunts and Sajid-Wajid's music, with an additional song by Lalit Pandit. Talking of action scenes, Salman's introduction at the start and the fight-to-finish in the climax will send the masses in frenzy. To state that the action scenes are outstanding, especially the fight in the finale, would be an understatement. In the finale fight, when Salman's shirt tears apart and the rippling muscles and the bare-chest fight ensues, will lead to chaos at mass-dominated centres, especially at single screens. The climax will be one of the prime reasons for repeat viewing, for sure.

It's difficult to accommodate music in an action film, but Sajid-Wajid come up with a melodious score. The title track, "Tere Mast Mast Do Nain" and "Munni" [composed by Lalit Pandit] are the icing on the cake.




Director Abhinav Singh Kashyap is in his element. He's made an out and out entertainer with an eye at the masses and he succeeds in his endeavour. Doing justice to vintage formula is no cakewalk, let's not forget. Besides, the director stays away from going overdramatic while handling the dramatic and emotional moments. This explains why you don't exit the theatre with a spinning head. Mahesh Limaye's cinematography is perfect. Dialogue, especially those delivered by Salman, will be greeted with claps and whistles.

Salman Khan is the boss, when it comes to playing to the masses. This film reaffirms this truth. The role provides him ample opportunity to prove his star power and he does it with remarkable ease. Let me put it on record. 'Dabangg' is yet another landmark film in his career, besides 'Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun', 'Judwaa' [tapping the funny side], 'Tere Naam' [tapping the emotional side] and 'Wanted'.

Sonakshi Sinha looks fresh, acts confidently and pairs off very well with Salman. Most importantly, she delivers the right expressions and is not overpowered by the galaxy of stars in the cast. Arbaaz Khan is efficient. He underplays his part well. Sonu Sood is electrifying, matching up to Salman at every step. In fact, the fight in the finale between Salman and Sonu is awe-inspiring.

Vinod Khanna is excellent in a role that has grey shades. Dimple Kapadia is truly wonderful. Anupam Kher is, as always, good. Ditto for Om Puri. Mahesh Manjrekar doesn't get ample scope. Mahi Gill is alright. Tinnu Anand is effective. Murli Sharma is nice. Malaika Arora Khan sizzles in the "Munni" track.

On the whole, 'Dabangg' is a full on entertainer with three aces - Salman Khan like never before, stylish action and super music.

'Dabangg' - The story of Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan)

Set in Laalgurj, 'Dabangg' is the story of Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan), a fearless but corrupt police officer with unorthodox working methods.

But even the fearless at times face a tough fight with their innermost demons. Chulbul has had a bitter childhood. His father passed away when he was very young, after which his mother Naini (Dimple Kapadia) married Prajapati Pandey (Vinod Khanna).

Together, they had a son, Makhanchan (Arbaaz Khan). Prajapati favors Makhanchan, which does not go down well with Chulbul. He decides to take control of his destiny and detaches himself from his stepfather and half brother.



His sole attachment is his mother. However after his mother's demise and an unsuccessful attempt to mend wounds, Chulbul snaps all ties with his stepfather and half brother. Rajo (Sonakshi Sinha) with her unique perspective of life, enters his world and turns it upside down. Chulbul starts looking at life more positively, and gets sensitized to the value of a family.



But his detractors, especially the dubious Cheddi Singh (Sonu Sood) have their own vested interests and emerge as spokes in the wheels, putting one brother against the other.

Makhanchan ends up carrying out acts, oblivious to their consequences. When he realizes he has been used, he turns to Chulbul.

Will Chulbul take his extended hand?

Will the brothers be able to thwart their detractors?

Will this time, Chulbul's fearlessesness channel itself positively and reunite him with his family?

Shah Rukh was not my girlfriend: Salman

Salman Khan says he is still at loggerheads with Shah Rukh Khan, with whom he had his infamous public spat two years ago, and that they can never be friends again.

"Shah Rukh and I don't talk anymore. We had misunderstanding and hence parted ways... There is no chance of Shah Rukh and Salman coming together in future," Salman told trade analyst Komal Nahta.

The 44-year-old called off his friendship with Shah Rukh after the two had a heated argument at Salman's then girlfriend Katrina Kaif's birthday party July 16, 2008. The actor has since found friendship in B-Town perfectionist Aamir Khan.

Infamous for splits whether with friends or girlfriends, Salman recently broke off with Katrina too.

Asked if he ever misses his once-upon-a-time brother-in-arms Shah Rukh, he fired: "Shah Rukh meri girlfriend nahi thi... apni purani girlfriend ko miss nahi karta, Shah Rukh ko kya karunga (Shah Rukh was not my girlfriend... I don't miss my ex-girlfriends for that matter, why will I miss him?)".
